  The Local village of Llandrillo (1 mile) has 2 restaurants, a pub which serves bar meals, a village shop and a play ground. Cynwyd (3 miles) offers a post office, play ground, a choice of 2 pubs and a pizza takeaway. Corwen our nearest town, is an old market town with a selection of shops and pubs, as well as a swimming pool and park.

Some of the best attractions in Snowdonia and North Wales are with in easy reach of Hendwr and we think that our corner of Wales is pretty special.

On your door-step - walk or cycle from your Lodge along the winding country lans with sping time primroses and bluebells filling the hedgrows, see the stunning blooms of the Hendwr horse chestnuts during May and June. Our printed walking guides will help you get into the Berwyn Mountains to see a range of wildlife and fabulous views. For erious walking you can try one of the many peaks of Snowdonia or Cadair Berwyn.

Activities and Adventure - water sports feature prominatly in the part of North Wales, especialy white water rafting, canoeing and sailing with some of the best water in the country at Bala and Llangollen. The River Dee which runs through the farm is famous for its fishing. Try pony trekking or mountain biking. All weather track trail centres like Code y Brenin and Coed Llandegla are close by.

Welsh Castles and Culture - North Wales is famous for its medieval Castles, Caernarfon, Conwy, Harlech and Beaumaris are all World Heritage sites. Conwy is a wonderful day out from Hendwr. Two Welsh gems are within five minutes of Hendwr; Llangar Old Parish Church and Rug Chapel. The narrow gauge railways are a lovely way to see the countryside and so many to choose from, Bala, Ffestiniog and Snowdon Mountain. Llangollen steam railway runs on standard guage along the Dee Valley makes for a great day out.

The National Trust owns a number of spectacular properties in North Wales with wonderful gardens such as Erddig near Wrexham to Chirk Castle and Bodnant Gardens. Portmeririon is a stunning village with extensive gardens.

Shopping - you are spoilt for choice between Bala, Llangollen and Betwys y Coed, all close by and offering something that little bit different to the high street. Chester offers best of both worlds and makes for a lovely day out.
